The core to these machine-assembled padded rails is made entirely of 7/16" wafer board

It is then wrapped in 3/4" of flame retardant foam and covered with black vinyl

The outside height measurement to these rail caps is 1 5/8" down the side of your waterbed frame

This standard set of padded rails only covers the side rails to your waterbed

81" long so it will fit any standard size of waterbed
